Privacy
Kalinga is in beta. This page says plainly what happens to the information you put in it. Last updated 10 October 2026.
The short version: everything stays on this phone. There is no account, no sign-up, no ads and no tracking. Kalinga does not send your family’s medicines, readings or photos anywhere.
What’s stored, and where
- Profiles, conditions, medicines, schedules, doses, readings and settings are saved in this browser’s storage for this site.
- Photos (pills, swelling) and recorded voice reminders are kept on this phone, in the browser’s file storage. Photos are made smaller first.
- Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes everything. So does More → Erase everything on this phone. Export a backup first if you want to keep it.
Prescription PDFs
- When you import an e-prescription PDF, it is read on this phone. The file and its password are never uploaded and the password is not saved.
- The first import downloads the free PDF reader (pdf.js) from cdnjs.cloudflare.com; only that program code is downloaded, nothing about you is sent.
Voice
- When someone speaks a reading, the phone’s speech service (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone) turns the sound into text, like any voice typing. Kalinga only gets the words, and they stay on this phone.
- Reading aloud uses the phone’s own text-to-speech.
Coming later
Family sharing (so a caregiver elsewhere sees doses and readings) will be end-to-end encrypted: the server will only hold scrambled data it cannot read. This page will be updated before that is switched on.
Not medical advice
Kalinga is an aid, not a medical device or medical advice. It never suggests, calculates or changes a dose: it only shows what the family entered from the doctor’s instructions. Always follow the doctor.
